Shuming Releases China's First Single Channel Compatible Optocoupler with Protection Function for IGBT/SiC Isolation Driver SLMi33x

Shanghai, China - Suming Semiconductor, a leading one-stop provider of driver ICs in China, continues to delve into the field of isolation drives and recently officially released the first single channel IGBT/SiC isolation driver SLMi33x with DESAT protection function in China. The chip is equipped with fast desaturation (DESAT) fault detection function, Miller clamp function, drain open circuit fault feedback, soft shutdown function, and optional self recovery mode. It is compatible with optocoupler isolation drivers and provides high-quality and high-performance alternative solutions for customer engineers.

By adopting industry-leading dual capacitor isolation technology and "OOK" transmission technology, SLMi33x achieves isolation voltage of 5kVrms and isolation surge voltage of up to 10kV, and has a common mode transient immunity (CMTI) of over 100kV/us (Min.), meeting the high requirements of SiC power devices for CMTI, ensuring reliability and stability in extremely harsh working environments. The DESAT threshold of SLMi33x is 6.5V or 9V, with a maximum driving current of 1.5A, 2.5A, and 4.0A. It can be widely used in motor drive, high-power frequency converters, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), EV charging, inverters, and other application scenarios.

The typical application circuit of SLMi33x in IGBT three-phase bridge is shown in Figure 1. During normal operation, Anode and Cathode receive control signals from the controller, and VOUT outputs driving signals to drive the opening and closing of IGBT. When short circuit protection occurs, the VCE voltage of IGBT is detected by DESAT. When the voltage on DESAT is higher than 6.5V or 9.0V, the VOUT output is turned off and transmitted to the control terminal side, and the fault is pulled down.

The pin definition and packaging of SLMi33x are shown in Figure 2, which is packaged as a SOIC16 wide body and provides a creepage and gap distance greater than 8mm.
